Conditions
                              What can acupuncture treat?
The greatest strength of traditional acupuncture is that it views each patient as unique and treats all people individually, regardless of the western diagnosis.
It focuses on all factors that contribute to disease, not just the presenting symptoms.
The focus is on the individual, not their illness, and all the symptoms are seen in relation to each other.
Consequently, traditional acupuncture does not meet the prevalent research protocols that have been developed in response to symptom-based treatments (Randomised Controlled Trials) and as a result, continues to be a heavily debated subject here in the UK.
Previously, this page of our website gave a list of all the conditions we regularly treat, and which acupuncture has been shown through clinical experience to be effective for. As of March 2011, we are no longer able to provide this information. The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that the only conditions that can be claimed to be benefitted by acupuncture are those backed up by RCTs.

What we can do, however, is to provide links to a broader spectrum of research.
In the meantime, we strongly recommend that you call us to talk through your specific treatment requirements on 01179 542116 or 07900814100 or email us on info@charlotteandtom.co.uk.
